The Cascade Dance Academy is the first of its kind in Kent that provides gifted and talented dancers the chance to train regularly in a professional environment.
The Academy combines professional dance training and an intensive choreographic & performance programme alongside a range of academic & applied qualifications delivered by The Canterbury High School and its partners in the Canterbury City 6th Form Partnership.
Dancer.s acceptance into the Elite Academy must be post 16 and commit to 2 or 3 years in the 6th Form. Entry is through audition where dancers must show potential in dance through their technique and performance skills
...I had to remind myself that I was watching a class taking place in a state school. I could have been watching a professional dance company rehearsing their next national performance such was the standard of the choreography and its execution.
Michael Lofthouse, Dancing in the UK, February 2010
As part of the Academy you will receive a planned programme of weekly dance technique and choreographic sessions delivered by Cascade Dance. Although primarily contemporary focused, students will be introduced to other dance genres such as ballet, jazz, physical theatre and street dance
Cascade have undoubtedly raised the platform of dance within Canterbury High School, giving students a sense of self worth and belief in their ability thus going further in the world of dance either as performers, choreographers or educators"
Julia Tomlinson, The Canterbury High School, December 2009
