Performance Projects

Cascade offer performance projects for schools, colleges and dance organisations in the South East. These projects take place over a period of time and work towards devising a performance with the pupils/dancers.

The projects aim to encourage creativity, confidence and communication whilst teaching pupils new dance styles and a range of performance and technical skills.

Sherwood Primary School

Back in June 2008 Cascade were commissioned to work with year six pupils of Sherwood Park Primary School to create a Street Dance Performance. Over the period of 8 weeks, Cascade worked alongside the pupils and devised ‘Sherwood High’ a piece exploring themes of growing up and saying goodbye, loosely based on High School Musical.

Jan Davies, School Business Manager, said “all pupils involved have enjoyed the experience of working with professional dancers and being given the opportunity to show others what they have learnt.   I very much hope that we will be able to continue to work with Cascade and put on further performances.”

The program was commissioned by Sherwood Park, Kent County Council and received funding from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council.

West Kent College

Cascade worked with the AS / A level students at West Kent College for 10 weeks on a site Specific performance program.

The students explored areas on the campus involving themes of loneliness and connection.

The performance was presented to the dance department and college students with live percussion.
